There may be several reasons for this, for example:
There is no limit on file size that can be uploaded to Koofr, however, your operating system and/or browser may limit the size of the files you are able to upload.

No. You can close the window while files are being moved/copied/deleted. The progress of these operations can be checked in the Account menu, under Jobs.
No, there is no way to edit documents inside the Koofr WebApp. You can download the Koofr Desktop Client and do this with a workaround. First, you need to Enable the Network drive in Koofr desktop client Settings. Read more about it here. This allows you to access Koofr directly from your computer. Koofr will appear as a disk drive on your computer. This way you can edit documents on your computer, with your usual document editor and this will be directly reflected in Koofr WebApp.
Note: This solution works for computers with Windows or Mac operating systems.
In Koofr you can create two types of links for sharing. The Send link link and the Receive files link. The Send link link enables third parties to download files/folders from your Koofr, even if they are not Koofr users. The Receive files link enables third parties to upload files/folders from their devices to your folder in Koofr even if they are not Koofr users. Read more about sharing files/folders in How can I share a file? and How can I share a folder?.
If you are viewing files in list view, you can hover over the desired file and click on the Share button that appears on the right. In tile view, you can hover over the desired file and click on the share icon that appears in the top right corner of the file. You have two options for sharing files:
Note: The option to create links to external clouds is only available in the paid Koofr accounts. Read more about it in Why can't I create share links on Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive/Amazon Drive?. You can read about upgrading your account in Upgrading my Koofr account and more about benefits of having a paid Koofr account in What benefits do paid accounts bring besides extra storage space?.
Note: Files can be shared publicly with or without the password protection. The only exception are potentially malicious files (executables, packages etc.), which cannot be shared without a password, due to the antivirus and browser requirements.
If you are viewing folders in list view, you can hover over the desired folder and click on the Share button that appears on the right. In tile view, you can hover over the desired folder and click on the share icon that appears in the top right corner of the file. You have three options for sharing folders:
Note: This is read-only access; others cannot upload files through these links.
In the same window you can also see a field Files can also be received via email address. The unique email address that Koofr automatically creates functions as another gateway to saving the files in the chosen folder. When you send an email with attachments to this email address, the attachments will be automatically saved to Koofr, along with the email itself, in the folder you chose to share.
OR once you open a folder, you can share it by clicking the Share button in the Main toolbar. Then follow the instructions above for the option you want to choose (Add People, Send Link, Receive Files).
You can share your files faster with Quick Sharing. To use it, just drag your file from your computer to Koofr. When you see the Quick sharing icon appear in the Main tool bar, drop the file onto the Quick sharing icon. The file will be uploaded into a new folder in your Koofr named Quick Sharing and you will get a link to share it right away.
Note: This is the Send Link sharing option. Read more about it in How can I share a file? and How can I share a folder?, under Send Link.
You can view all the files/folders you shared and the files that are shared with you if you click on Shared in the Main menu on the left. The purple coloured icons mark the files /folders that are shared with you and the blue ones mark the files/folders that you shared with others. If you hover over the coloured icon, a text will appear letting you know which files/folders are shared with you and which are shared by you.
You can view all of your Send link links and Receive files links if you navigate to the Account menu and click on Links. On the left side, you can choose which links you want to view - the download or the upload links.
There are a few ways to stop sharing a file/folder, depending on which option of sharing you used.
Go to the file/folder shared with you, hover over it and click on the Share button that appears, click on View People. Clicking on the [-] button next to your name will revoke your permission to access this file/folder. The person who shared the file/folder with you will be able to see that you removed yourself.
When you click the Share button next to a file/folder and select Send Link, a new window pops-up. You can customize the link URL by clicking on the pencil icon on the right side of the link, type in the wanted name of the link URL and click Done. No special characters and spaces are allowed. Confirm it by clicking on Ok in the bottom of the pop-up window.
When you click the Share button next to a file/folder and select Send Link, a new window pops-up. If you want to protect your shared file/folder with a password, tick the Link is unprotected checkbox. The password will appear next to Copy link to share. If you are sharing your file/folder using the Add People option, the content is already protected, because you need to have a registered Koofr account to access the file/folder that is shared this way.
When you click the Share button next to a file/folder and select Send Link, a new window pops-up. If you want to change the expiration date of the shared link, click on the downward arrow next to the set expiration date. You can choose your preferred expiration date out of these options: 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, never, or set a custom expiration date. Choose one option and click Ok when you are done.
When you click the Share button next to a file/folder and select Send Link, a new window pops-up. If you want to share the file/folder on social media, find your preferred social media icon under Post to and click on it. You can also choose to send the link via Email by clicking on the envelope icon. Koofr will create an upload link in your default Email client and take you there.
No, it will only take up space in the Koofr account of the person who created the files.
Only if the owner of the folder allowed you to do so. The owner of the folder needs to tick off all of the boxes in the category Permission, to grant you the authority to do so. If this is the case you will see it if you click on Share next to the shared folder and click on View people. Under Permissions, it will say extended next to your details. The default permission is modify and it will not allow you to define permissions of a folder.
You can share files/folders with people who do not have a Koofr account by sending them a link. See how to do that in How can I share a file? or How can I share a folder? under option Send link. They will be able to download the file/folder without registering.
Note: If you share a file/folder thought Add People, they will have to register to Koofr, to be able to view it.
Only if the files/folders were shared/sent or posted as a link. See questions How can I share a file?, How can I share a folder?, How can I share the file/folder link on social media or via Email? and How can I send files/folders to people who do not have a Koofr account?.
Yes. When you click Share next to a folder and select Receive files you can tick the Notify checkbox in the bottom and the system will notify you over Email when files are uploaded over your upload - Receive files links.

When someone shared files/folders with you though a Koofr link, you can save them directly to Koofr. When you open the sharing link, click on the Download button in the upper right corner. A drop-down menu opens, where you need to choose Save to my Koofr. You'll get a Files are being imported message. You'll find the files in your Koofr account in an automatically created folder Saved links.
Select the file/folder you want to delete and click the Delete button in the Editing menu that appears. A new window will pop-up, where you need to confirm that you really want to delete the file/folder, by pressing Delete. OR right-click on the chosen file/folder and click Delete. Google Drive allows the same filenames to be used for multiple files (or folders) inside a folder. Since no other platform we support allows that (including ours), errors might have occurred when trying to copy/move/download such files/folders inside Koofr. So, in case where there is more than one file with the same name in a folder, you see unique 8 characters added to the name inside Koofr. This is for representation in Koofr only. File name on Google Drive will not be changed. You may also notice folders and files containing "illegal" characters (e.g. /) being displayed with substituted characters (2017/06 will be displayed as 2017-06). These name changes in Koofr allow all operations on these files to successful and without errors.
You can do that only for the files that are stored in your connected Google Drive account. There are two ways to do this.
No. Due to the various limits of different providers, you can only synchronise files to Koofr storage with the Koofr desktop client.

Your plan goes back to 2 GB, starter account. You can only upload new files if you didn’t exceed the included 2 GB of space. If you exceeded the 2 GB, all of your files will stay on Koofr but you can no longer upload new files. After a period of time, you will be warned that your over-quota files will be removed unless you upgrade your account or remove the files yourself.
The Upgrade warning appears in the Main toolbar when you are close to the space limit in your Koofr account. If you click on the Upgrade warning you will see a message: "Your account is almost full. Why not upgrade?" in case you still have some space left in your account or "Whoooaaaa. You sure seem to have a lot of files. Your storage in full and new files can not be uploaded. Why not upgrade?" if there is no space left or you are already over quota. If the latter is the case, you will need to buy more space on Koofr if you want to be able to upload new files. After a period of time, you will be warned that your over-quota files will be removed unless you upgrade your account or remove the files yourself.

Yes. We put special care into keeping your files safe with several different technologies. Every transfer is secured using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS)encryption from the moment your files begin to transfer. Once files are on our servers, we encrypt them again using server-side encryption. Since every disk can fail, our automated system ensures each file ends up in at least three physically separate locations. We make sure that metadata and the actual content are kept on separate layers, even on completely separate servers to guarantee the maximum safety of your files. We use the latest technologies and administrative procedures to safeguard your files.
All our servers that keep your files are located in highly secured, protected and ISO 27001 certified data centres inside the European Union (Germany). This allows us to guarantee compliance with EU data privacy legislation.

We do not put any Cookies in your browser, with the exception of the one that keeps you logged into our application. Our website has no cookies for users that do not login.
