There may be several reasons for this, for example:
There is no limit on file size that can be uploaded to Koofr, however, your operating system and/or browser may limit the size of the files you can upload.

If you manually upload a changed/newer file to the Koofr webapp, there is currently no way to overwrite the old file that is already stored in your Koofr account. Koofr will automatically add a number after the name of your file and you will effectively end up with two files in your Koofr account.
If you overwrite a file in your Koofr sync folder (or any other sync folder) on your device, our synchronisation will upload the newer version of the file to your Koofr account automatically. You will then be able to right-click on your file in the Koofr webapp and see Previous versions of the file. See our blog post on synchronisation. You can see up to five previous versions of the file.
What you can also do is connect Koofr as a network drive on your computer and access/edit your Koofr files with the file manager on your computer. See our blog post explaining Koofr as a network drive.

In Koofr, you can create two types of links for sharing. The Send link link and the Receive files link. The Send link link enables third parties to download files/folders from your Koofr, even if they are not Koofr users. The Receive files link enables third parties to upload files/folders from their devices to your folder in Koofr even if they are not Koofr users. Read more about sharing files/folders in How can I share a file? and How can I share a folder?.

When you see the Quick sharing icon appear in the Main toolbar, drop the file onto the Quick sharing icon. The file will be uploaded into a new folder in your Koofr named Quick Sharing and you will get a link to share it right away.

You can view all the files/folders you shared and the files that are shared with you if you click on Shared in the Main menu on the left. If you hover over the coloured icon, a text will appear letting you know which files/folders are shared with you and which are shared by you.

These include, but are not limited to: limits on number of users that can be added to a share, number of public links that can be created, length of link validity, and prevention of sharing of executables and other possibly malicious files (trojans, viruses, phishing,…) and file types (zip, rar, exe, apk, html, etc).
These limits apply to all kinds of shares and access via means other than official Koofr applications - links, Add people, WebDAV.
When blocked files or files of blocked file types are inside a shared folder, those files will also be unavailable.
Limits do not affect account holders ability to upload, access and download files in their own account through official applications.
If you decide to password-protect your upload and download links (Send link and Receive files options), the default password is 6 characters long. However, you can set a custom password between 6 and 16 characters long, containing only letters and numbers (no special characters). Click on Set custom password in the Protect link with password section.

A new window will pop-up, where you need to confirm that you really want to delete the file/folder, by pressing Delete. OR right-click on the chosen file/folder and click Delete. A new window will pop-up, where you need to confirm that you really want to delete the file/folder, by pressing Delete.
To select multiple files/folders check the checkboxes on the left side of files/folders. You can also quickly select multiple files/folders by holding down the Shift key and clicking on the first and the last file/folder of the files/folders you want to delete.
You can find the deleted files if you navigate to the Deleted files in the Main menu. The folders you deleted will not be visible in the Deleted files, but if you select a file and click on Undelete in the upper right-hand corner, the appropriate folder structure will be visible again in Koofr.
The deleted files will be available in the Deleted files in the Main menu of your Koofr account for the length of the retention period.
Note: The retention period of the deleted files is 7 days in the free Koofr accounts and 30 days in the paid Koofr accounts.
After the retention period is over your files will be permanently deleted from your Koofr account and you can no longer restore them.
No, the deleted files do not count towards your storage space quota.
You can do that by navigating to the Deleted files in the Main menu, selecting the correct files and clicking on Undelete in the upper right-hand corner. OR if you right-click on the file and click the Undelete button that appears. To select multiple files/folders check the checkboxes on the left side of files/folders. Only the owner of that shared folder.
Your Deleted files will be available for 7 days from the moment of deletion if you are a user of the free Koofr account and 30 days if you are a user of the paid Koofr account. After that period, the deleted files are automatically permanently deleted from your Koofr account.
If you want to permanently delete your files/empty your Koofr trash before the end of that period, click on the Deleted files in the Main menu of the Koofr web app.
In the top-right corner, you will see the Permanently delete button. Click on it. You will be prompted to confirm the action, since it is irreversible. Click on Permanently delete button only if you are absolutely sure you want to delete your files/empty your trash. After you permanently delete your files, there will be no way to get them back.
Note: The deleted files do not count towards your storage space quota. The deleted files can occupy up to your storage space quota of additional space. The rest is deleted regardless of the retention period. The files that are in the deleted files the longest, will be deleted first.

It will integrate all Dropbox files into your Koofr account without affecting your Koofr space. OR go to the Account menu on the right and click on Places, where you can also connect your Koofr account to Dropbox.
In the Main menu on the left, click Connect and choose Google Drive. Then click Connect Google Drive and allow Koofr to access the files and folders in your Google Drive. Note: You can also connect your OneDrive for Business and OneDrive for Education accounts this way. Connecting OneDrive for Business/Education is as simple as connecting any other external cloud. Just click the Connect OneDrive button and you can now login into your personal or business or education Microsoft account.
Koofr is using the newest Microsoft Graph API which enables users to connect their personal OneDrive, OneDrive for business and OneDrive for education through the same interface. If your educational institution hasn't verified its domain with Microsoft, this method will not work and you will get this error. An administrator needs to claim ownership of the domain and modify the domain to Microsoft requirements. You will not be able to connect Koofr to OneDrive before that.
Yes. We support OneDrive as well as OneDrive for Business account connections. Both can be connected via Connect in the Koofr Main menu.
Since Photos is no longer a part of Google Drive, you cannot connect Google Photos and Koofr directly any more.
You have two options on how to transfer existing photos from Google Photos to Koofr:
When the files in a chosen connected storage drive are updating you will see an Updating icon appear in the Main toolbar. When files are being updated the file list in Koofr may not properly represent the actual state of the files. If you don't see the Updating icon the files are the same as if viewed directly in a connected storage drive.
No, connecting other cloud services will not impact your space on Koofr.
Yes, deleting a file/folder in Koofr will also delete it in the connected cloud service.

Note: Removing the service from Koofr will not affect your files in that service.
Google Drive allows the same filenames to be used for multiple files (or folders) inside a folder. Since no other platform we support allows that (including ours), errors might have occurred when trying to copy/move/download such files/folders inside Koofr. So, in a case where there is more than one file with the same name in a folder, you see unique 8 characters added to the name inside Koofr. This is for representation in Koofr only. The file name on Google Drive will not be changed. You may also notice folders and files containing "illegal" characters (e.g. /) being displayed with substituted characters (2017/06 will be displayed as 2017-06). These name changes in Koofr allow all operations on these files to successful and without errors.
You can do that only for the files that are stored in your connected Google Drive account. There are two ways to do this.
No. Due to the various limits of different providers, you can only synchronise files to Koofr storage with the Koofr desktop client.
To do that you have to connect the chosen cloud service to your Koofr account first. Then select all files/folders you want to copy/move to your Koofr account and click Copy or Move in the Editing menu that appears. A new window will pop-up, where you can select Koofr as your destination and click Move or Copy.
This functionality is only possible for our paid users. Please upgrade your Koofr account to unlock this option. You can read more about it in Upgrade Koofr account chapter and more about the benefits of having a paid Koofr account in What benefits do paid accounts bring besides extra storage space?
Owners of free Koofr accounts can still use all the sharing functionality for all files residing on Koofr or your computers. You can also share any file with other Koofr users, regardless of where it is stored.
For sharing from connected cloud storage accounts you can use sharing with Add People option where you can share files with anyone. Non-members will be automatically invited to join Koofr. Read more about it in How can I share a file? and How can I share a folder? under option Add people.

Note: When you connect your Koofr account to your external cloud account, the files from your external cloud account are not transferred to Koofr. They are only accessible from Koofr, as long as the external cloud is connected.
Mega, Tresorit and others are client-side encrypted services. To add any of them to our service and have them work the same as other clouds, would mean we would have to keep users passwords for those services on our servers and decrypt the files. We do not want to keep such things in our databases, as they are private passwords and should only be kept by the users. This is why we have not and will not be adding client-side encrypted services to Koofr.
You can only see your own Google Drive files/folders in your Koofr account. You are not able to see the shared files/folders.
You can only see your own OneDrive files/folders in your Koofr account. You are not able to see the shared files/folders.
If you've connected your Dropbox/Google Drive/One Drive account to Koofr successfully but get a “File list for this place is currently being updated. This may take a while in case of first access or large changes since the last check.” error and can't see the file list from a connected cloud on Koofr, it means that the process of retrieving the file list from Dropbox/Google Drive/One Drive hasn't completed for your device yet.
If your Dropbox/Google Drive/One Drive account contains many files and folders, it may take some time for Dropbox/Google Drive/One Drive to transmit the entire file list.
Please make sure that files and folders on your connected cloud service do not contain names longer than allowed on our system. Longer names can cause the file list to fail. The maximum file name length is 255 characters and the total path cannot exceed 1023 characters.
Note: If your file names in connected accounts contain emojis or special characters, they count as more than one character.
If you encounter the error message “You can connect 1/3/6/10 accounts per cloud storage provider” while attempting to connect external cloud services (Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive) to Koofr, it indicates that you've attempted to connect more external accounts per provider than allowed by your current plan. The number of external cloud services you can connect per provider varies depending on the Koofr plan you're subscribed to. If you want to see the specific limitations for your plan, please refer to how many external cloud services (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive) you can connect to Koofr.

Yes. We put special care into keeping your files safe with several different technologies. Every transfer is secured using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS)encryption from the moment your files begin to transfer. Once files are on our servers, we encrypt them again using server-side encryption. Since every disk can fail, our automated system ensures each file ends up in at least three physically separate locations. We make sure that metadata and the actual content are kept on separate layers, even on completely separate servers to guarantee the maximum safety of your files. We use the latest technologies and administrative procedures to safeguard your files.
Note: Koofr also supports client-side encryption with Koofr Vault.
All our servers that keep your files are located in highly secured, protected, ISO 27001 certified data centres that run on 100% clean and renewable hydropower generated energy. They are located inside the European Union (Germany). This allows us to guarantee compliance with EU data privacy legislation.
We don’t use third-party tracking tools (like Google Analytics) on our websites or in our services. We do not put any Cookies in your browser, with the exception of the one that keeps you logged into our application. Our website has no cookies for users that do not login. Because we are awesome that way.
Yes. Our privacy statement has been prepared in accordance with European regulation on data protection and privacy (GDPR). You can read more about the privacy of your data in our Privacy Policy.
Privacy of your data and information is at the very core of our values and services. This is why we regularly check our data collection processes to reassess the needs for specific data.
