Koofr on Windows Phone

Getting started with Koofr for Windows mobile devices.

Koofr app for Windows mobile devices provides an easy way to store, share, organize and move photos and other files between mobile devices, stationary devices and cloud.

Koofr allows you to:

Use your Windows device to access and share files or folders stored on your mobile device, computers or in cloud service. You can even integrate storage from other cloud service providers, such as DropBox, Google Drive and OneDrive.

Koofr allows you to effortlessly upload and download movies, photos, songs or other files and password protect upload and download links of your files or folders to maximise privacy and security.

Getting started:

  1. Download Koofr Windows App from Windows Phone,

  2. Install Koofr on your Windows device.

  3. Press    to start Koofr.

  4. Login to your Koofr profile using your Koofr username and password.

  5. You can access your profile details, by sliding your finger from left to right border of the screen. Select    icon.

What kinds of files and documents can I view in Koofr on my phone or tablet?

Basically you can view or run any file stored in Koofr as long as your Windows device has tools or plugins to handle that file. In addition Koofr natively supports most common photo, video, document and music files. That meaning, you can let’s say view PDFs without dedicated PDF viewer for Windows. It’s simple as that!

How do I download files on my phone or tablet using Koofr

You can download file from Koofr simply by pressing on it. The file is then stored in Download folder of SD card or in custom default memory device of your Windows device.

Creating folders in Koofr on Windows devices?

Creating new folders in Koofr is made easy. Same goes for managing and organizing them.

  1. Create new folder simply by selecting    icon on bottom of the screen.

  2. Name your new folder and select    to confirm.

  3. When new folder is created you can rename, move, copy or delete files for easier and more intuitive access to your files and folders.

  4. Organizing files and folders is done with long press on selected item.

How do I upload photos to Koofr from my phone or tablet?

You have two options of how to upload photos to Koofr from your Windows device. Which one you choose is completely up to you.

Option 1. Manually select photos:

  1. Select    icon located on the bottom of the screen of your Windows device.

  2. Koofr opens default root file structure of your device which is usually root of your SD card.

  3. When you find your photo simply click on it and Koofr will automatically start uploading it.

Option 2. Automatically upload new photos:

Koofr has an option to automatically upload new photos. This allows you to quickly upload pictures directly from your phone to the Koofr app.

  1. Select    on upper left side of the screen.

  2. Bottom two checkboxes in your Profile menu indicate if your new photos are automatically uploaded and if they are uploaded on WiFi.

  3. If you want your pictures to be uploaded simply make sure that box by the link is checked   .

  4. When the box is checked, your new photos will be automatically uploaded.

What sharing a folder in Koofr does?

Sharing a folder basically allows your friends or a person you select, to access folders and files you choose they can access.

How do I share folders in Koofr?

Sharing in Koofr is made really easy! Simply choose a folder and a person with whom you want to share:

  1. Hold on on the chosen file for at least two seconds.

  2. Select    option when menu pops up.

  3. In the next menu select   .

  4. When Edit share window pops out, you simply type in person’s name you wish to share with. Person's name will be auto suggested as soon as you start typing.

  5. If person is not in your group you can type their full Koofr login e-mail to start sharing folder with them.

  6. You can add multiple persons to a share, by selecting    icon on right side of textbox in “Edit share” window.

  7. When you are finished adding persons, simply press back button.

  8. Folder is now shared.

  9. You can access, edit or delete your shared folders by selecting    icon in upper right corner of the screen.

Copying, moving, renaming files and folders in Koofr?

If you want to copy, move or rename files on your Windows device, Koofr lets you do that with just a few finger strokes.

  1. Select file or folder you wish to rename, copy or move.

  2. Hold on on the chosen file for at least two seconds.

  3. When menu opens, select action you want to complete with.

  4. If renaming, select    when window pops up, type new name of file or folder and select    to confirm.

  5. If copying a file or folder, select    icon from drop down menu. Browse to location in your Koofr and press    icon at the bottom of your Windows device.

  6. If moving, select    when window pops up. Browse to location in your Koofr and press    icon at the bottom of your Windows device.

If you want to cancel any of upper actions before completion, just press default Back button on your Windows device.

How do I delete files, folders and shares?

Getting rid of unwanted files, folders or shares is really simple in Koofr.

If you want to delete file or folder:

  1. Select file or folder you wish to delete.

  2. Hold on on the chosen file for at least two seconds.

  3. When window pops up press   .

  4. You are then asked if you really want to delete selected file or folder.

  5. Press    button to confirm.

If you want to delete folder share:

  1. Slide your finger from left to right border of the screen and find   .

  2. When in sharing menu hold on on the shared folder for at least two seconds.

  3. When window pops up press   .

  4. You are then asked if you really want to delete selected file or folder.

  5. Press    button to confirm.

What bookmarking a folder in Koofr does?

Koofr has an option to “Bookmark” folders. This allows you to quickly access your most commonly used files.

To bookmark a folder:

  1. Choose a folder you want to bookmark and press on it for at least two seconds.

  2. Select    when window pops up.

  3. Bookmark is created.

After that you can access it by sliding your finger from left to right border of the screen and selecting   .

What type of links can I create and what do they mean?

In Koofr you can basically create two types of links:

1. Download link

Download link enables third party to download file or folder from your Koofr even if person is not a Koofr user. Link is created and sent via email, Facebook, Twitter, messages, Skype, Viber, ... or other communication service you might have on your Windows device.

To create download link:

  1. Press on file or folder for which you want to create download link.

  2. Select    button when menu pops up.

  3. Select   .

  4. "Share link with" window will open offering multiple communication services on your Windows device.

  5. Select communication service to share download link with(most common are e-mail or messages).

  6. Koofr will create download link in your selected service and teleport (yes teleport!) you there. Enter desired person’s contact information (e.g. e-mail address) and send download link.

2. Upload Link

Upload link enables third party to upload files from their devices to your folder in Koofr even if they are not Koofr users. Link is created and then send via email, Facebook, Twitter, messages, Skype, Viber, ... or any communication service you might have on your Windows device, even bluetooth.

To create upload link:

  1. Select folder to which you want to attach your upload link.

  2. Select    option when pressing on folder.

  3. Additional sharing options will emerge in dropdown menu.

  4. Select   .

  5. “Share link with“ window will open offering multiple communication services you have on your Windows device.

  6. Select communication service you want to use to share upload link(most common are e-mail or messages).

  7. Koofr will create upload link in your selected service and teleport (yes teleport!) you there. Enter desired person’s contact information (e.g. e-mail address) and send upload link.

Alternatively you can copy Upload or Download link’s URL to clipboard when asked for communication option for sending a link. Select link you want to create and then click copy to clipboard from menu. You can then paste link wherever you want to.

Password protecting your upload and download links in Koofr?

Koofr allows you to password protect all your download and upload links. With this action you secure your links and your Koofr storage from accidental or deliberate misuse.

To password protect your download or upload link:

  1. Select    by sliding your finger from left to right border of the screen.

  2. Top two checkboxes in your Profile menu indicate if links you send are password protected or not.

  3. If you want your links to be protected simply make sure that box by the link you wish to password protect is checked   .

  4. When the box is checked, password is sent automatically with the link you create.

Making comments and mentioning files in Koofr?

In addition to accessing, sharing and storing your files wherever you are, Koofr also allows you to make comments on shares and mentioning files.

To make a comment:

  1. Select folder which you want to comment.

  2. Press    at the right bottom of the screen.

  3. Select    when shows up.

  4. Comment is displayed on “Comments” wall. You can see comments from all users sharing the same folder with you.

To mention a file:

  1. Select file or folder you wish to make comment on by pressing on it.

  2. When menu opens select   .

  3. When “Comment wall” menu opens you can enter comment in text box. At this point you will notice that reference to mentioned file is automatically added in front of your comment.

  4. Press    button to confirm.
